18–30.11.2016
Studio BWA Wrocław Gallery, Poland

What connects Kama Sokolnicka, Krystian Truth Czaplicki , Leonie Young and Philemon Vanorlé?

They form a group of sensitive rebels who deftly respond to contemporary problems, but they are also the artists who took part in the residential project organised since 2012 by the BWA Wrocław and la malterie Association of Lille. Studio BWA – which has previously served as a platform for international cooperation and a studio for artists in residence who worked ans stayed there throughout their projects – became a venue for an exhibition summarizing the foregoing cooperation and current attitudes of the artists.

Are the experiences of residency still alive in their creative work? Do they explore completely different matters and formal solutions in comparison to the ones they examined during their residence? Or maybe the experiment they could afford at that time opened them to new areas of activity?

The project is co-organized by the Artist-in-Residence Programme A-i-R Wro, part of the European Capital of Culture Wroclaw 2016. A-i-R Wro is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.

The exhibition is co-organized as part of the partnership between the BWA Wrocław, the la malterie Association from Lille and Avant Art, with the support of the City of Wrocław, the City of Lille, the French Institute under an
agreement with the City of Lille.
